First: I fell off the earth again. I know. I’ve been trying to get some medical things taken care of and it means I’m having to be a bit more careful with my sleeping windows and they got really buggered for a while. I’m hoping to get back to more routine updates here in the next couple of weeks or so, but:
Second: Oh boy! A website update! And long post ahead, fyi.
Actually, this is slightly terrifying. I’m not looking forward to doing this website update. Because it means I’ll be rebuilding the author website from scratch, and doing everything in my power to learn how to code for WordPress. Why? Because honestly, it’s damned hard to find a theme that I like, in colors that I like, and that doesn’t make my head hurt something awful (and allows for some nifty customization, and lets me have a universal theme across all of my website faces).
I’ll be porting over my entire web presence from one hosting location to another because cost, and the fact that I’m on older servers means my costs are beginning to go up.
Add in the fact that NaNoWriMo 2016 is coming up and oie. (I also host my region’s website for nanowrimo, and I’ll be porting that one over as well.)
So much code to remember how to do, and to learn new kinds as well. I’m beginning to desperately need that second monitor for my home workstation so that I can actually make progress – and can have my reference materials up on that second screen.
On that note, while this feels really long to me, it probably isn’t – and since I don’t want to ramble, I’m going to vanish again for a little while. I’m still around on twitter and facebook, so if you want to keep track of me that way, hop on over there and check me out.
